Five Ways to Prevent and Reduce of Wrinkles

There is no shortage of wrinkle remedies on the market. From creams, to injections, to surgery, there are countless products and treatments designed to get rid of wrinkles. And many of these methods are effective.

However, creams designed to get rid of wrinkles can be expensive. Using injections to get rid of wrinkles can be painful. And getting plastic surgery to get rid of wrinkles can be both.

Fortunately, there are natural, affordable, and pain-free ways to visibly reduce the wrinkles you already have, and keep wrinkles from forming down the line.

Wear Sunscreen

Sun exposure is a major cause of wrinkles. In fact, some researchers believe that most “signs of aging” are actually signs of too much sun exposure.

You can protect your skin from the sun, and prevent wrinkles, by wearing sunscreen, and using products-like moisturizer and foundation-that contain sunscreen. Look for products with an SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 15.

If you spend a lot of time in the sun, especially during peak hours (from 10 am to 3 pm) you’ll need sunscreen with a much stronger SPF. Wearing a hat with a brim big enough, to keep a great deal of the sunlight off of your face is also a good idea.

Wear Glasses to Prevent Crow’s Feet

One of the things that causes those fine, and not so fine, lines to appear around your eyes is squinting. Whether you’re squinting because you can’t see or the sun is too bright, the result is the same. Wrinkles.

If you’re squinting because you have trouble seeing, make an appointment with the eye doctor. If you already have glasses, but some kind of vanity prevents you from wearing them, think about this. Wearing glasses (especially an attractive, stylish pair) is a small price to pay if it means not having deep wrinkles around your eyes. Besides, you can always wear contacts.

If most of your squinting is caused by bright sunlight, get yourself a stylish pair of sunglasses. And wear them whenever you go out on a bright, sunny day.

Give Yourself a Temporary Face Lift

A treatment using egg whites can temporarily tighten your skin, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Simply whisk an egg white into a foam and apply to your face. After half an hour, rinse off the egg white with cool water. The skin on your face will look tighter and more youthful,

Drink Lots of Water

One thing that can cause wrinkles is having dry skin. Along with keeping your skin properly moisturize, drinking plenty of water will also help prevent wrinkles by hydrating your skin.

While expensive creams, injections, and surgery can be effective in reducing wrinkles, stopping the wrinkles before they have a chance to appear is even better.

Safe Sun

sun-protection.jpgThe single most effective way to prevent under eye wrinkles is to protect your skin from the sun. Begin slathering on a sunscreen with at least a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15. Use sunscreen daily (rain or shine, since the sun’s rays can penetrate cloud cover) wherever you are, whether you’re at the beach or on the tennis court or simply walking to work, eating lunch outdoors or taking an afternoon jog. Because the thin, delicate skin around your eyes is especially affected by the sun, the sunscreen you dab under your eyes is more valuable than the priciest eye cream.
